George A. Thompson

George A. Thompson, 93, of Shawnee, passed away Monday, December 19, 2011 at his home.

George was born December 14, 1918 to the late Leonard and Beulah Thompson in Polo, Missouri. He joined the United States Army Air Corps November 6, 1941. George served as an aircraft mechanic in Northern Africa during World War II. After returning from the service he married Lloydine Lispi on October 12, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas. George worked for TWA until his retirement in 1979.

George is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lloydine; his sons Gary and Keith Thompson; a sister, Mary Etta Sheely; 3 granddaughters and 12 great grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army; 3637 Broadway; Kansas City, MO 64111.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Burial with military honors will follow at Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.
