George J. Upton

George J. Upton, 80, Overland Park, Kansas went ot be with the Lord on January 22, 2009.

George was born December 9, 1928 in Warsaw, Missouri to Zelpha O. (Smith) and Charles Otto Upton. He moved to Kansas City when he was 17 years old. George met Marietta Herman and they married in 1952. He was a barber for thirty-two years and had many wonderful customers who he enjoyed so much. He was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Church.

George was preceded in death by his mother and father, sisters, May Moulder, Mabel Mills, Carrie Hicks, Faye Campbell, brothers, Jewel, Ira, Claude, Paul and Clyde Upton and son-in-law, Ray Bieser. Survivors include his wife, Marietta Upton; two daughters, Marilyn Kay (Tim) Lord and Carolyn M. Bieser, Blue Springs, Missouri; sister, Hester Mills, Harrisonville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Andrew Lord, Ferndale, Wwashington, Jonathan Lord, Bow, Washington, Kimberly A. (Bieser) Conner, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Michael Ray Bieser, Blue Springs, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities Hospice, 2220 Central, Kansas City, KS 66102.

Visitation and Memorial Service

Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 26 at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee; inurnment will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery mausoleum. Friends may call from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Monday at the chapel.
