Georgene A. Smith

Geanie Smith, 84, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 29th.  She was born in Chicago, IL to Marion and Victor Lauletta.

Her working career included State Farm agents John Novasel and Steve Dickerson and independent agent Dave Meek.  Later she also worked in a travel agency with Jane Klein.

She was preceded in death by her parents and newborn daughter, Edie.  She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Donald; daughters, Allyson (Mark) Ermoian, Angela (Brendan) Ferguson and Paula (Craig Marvinney) McQueen; son, Eric (Michelle) Smith; 7 grandchildren and sister, Vicki (Thomas) Wise.

The family wishes to thank the staffs of Advent Hospital and Olathe Hospice House for the loving care they provided along with her two long time friends/”sisters” Cathy Lawson and Connie Powers as well as all her friends at the Village of Shawnee.  She was loved by many and we miss her already.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to American Lung Association, 55 W. Wacker Drive, Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101-9929.

A visitation will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 am on Friday, May 12th at St. Joseph Catholic Church.  A rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am.  Mass of Christian Burial will start at 10:30 am with burial to follow at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.
