Gerald Dean Carter Sr., 89, of Kansas City, KS, passed away on February 11, 2022. He passed away at the home with his wife and family at his side in Kansas City, KS where he resided.
Gerald was born in Iantha, Missouri on August 18, 1932, to George and Hazel (Wells) Carter. In 1952 Gerald married the love of his life Kay (Kreeck) Carter on December 9, 1952, in Huntsville, Arkansas; they were married 69 years. In 1952 Gerald and Kay moved to Kansas City, KS for his work with Rylie Equipment and Contracting. Gerald worked there for 57 years before retiring as President and CEO. He enjoyed spending time with family, working on his ranch, riding his motorcycles, shooting firearms, talking on his CB Radio, listening to his country music and collection of several boy toys. He always cherished our many family gatherings at the family town hall on the ranch.
Visitation service will be held from 5PM -7PM, Thursday, February 17, 2022. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 18, 2022. Services will be at The Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS 66203
Gerald leaves behind his wife Kay Carter, children Gerald D. Carter Jr., John D. Carter, James Carter Sr., and Linda (Carter) Gerber. He is also survived by his 12 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren, a sister, Darlene (Carter) Bell and John W. Carter.
The family would like to thank University of Kansas Physicians Dr. Rahul A Parikh, MD, PhD, and Dr. Mitchell C Birt, MD and their staff for the wonderful care and compassion they showed towards our father. We would also like to thank Vitas Hospice Care, especially his nurses Hannah and Cynthia and his aide Melissa for the wonderful care.
