Gerald “Gerry” E. Floth

Gerald E. Floth, 86, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at the Kansas City Hospice House.  He was born January 24, 1931 in Lincoln, Nebraska to Conrad and Amalia (Sitter) Floth; he had 2 younger brothers, Stan and Alan.  Gerry graduated from Lincoln High School in 1948.  He attended the University of Nebraska and continued his education at various institutions.  Gerry was a devoted and enthusiastic Cornhusker fan his whole life. He served in the U.S. Air Force and the Nebraska Air National Guard from 1951-1953.

In August 1962, Gerry married Mary (Archer). They enjoyed travelling to Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, Aruba, and throughout the United States. She passed away in 2008. "Poppo" retired from King Radio/Allied Signal at age 62 where he worked as Manager of Production Control. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Gerry is preceded in death by his brother, Stan and parents. He is survived by his daughter, Sue Linthicum (Larry) of Joplin, MO; daughter Pam Wells of Lenexa; son Karl Floth (Susan) of Lenexa; brother Alan (JoAnne) of Gilbert AZ; sister-in-law Sharon Floth of Adams, Nebraska; 3 grandchildren Kristin, Kirk, Kristopher; 4 great grand children, Reid, Taylor, Luke, and Adi; and numerous nieces and nephews.

His memorial service will be on April 22, 2017 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church (7851 W. 119th St. Overland Park, KS) at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in his name to the Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145 or the local Salvation Army.
