Gerald Henry Houfek, 79, Merriam, KS passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at The Heritage of Overland Park, Overland Park, KS.
Gerald was born Feb. 27, 1935 in Leigh, NE to Gerald and Agnes Houfek. He was a veteran of the US Army. Gerald worked as a network design engineer for AT&T for over 30 years, retiring in 1989.
Gerald was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn on Jan. 23, 2007 and son, Mark on Jan. 10, 1961. Survivors include his three daughters, Robin (Russ) Robertson, Merriam, KS, Kathy (Dennis) McNeil, Winston-Salem, NC, and Beth Houfek, Overland Park, KS; four sons, Keith Houfek, Dallas, TX, Chris Houfek, Kansas City, MO, Doug (Lidy) Houfek, Miami, FL, and Craig (Sherri) Houfek, Olathe, KS; two sisters, Geraldine (Ernest) Brabec and Regina (Anton) Gall all of Clarkson, NE; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 pm, Monday, Feb. 2 at the SS Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, Clarkson, NE; burial in the Clarkson Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 3-5:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 1 at the Amos Family Funeral Home, where a rosary recitation will be at 5:00 p.m.
