"In Loving Memory of Gerald "Jerry" L. Heathman"

05/06/1962 - 11/16/2023

It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Jerry L. Heathman, a truly remarkable man. Jerry Heathman, 61, Basehor KS passed away on Thursday, November 16th in his sleep, in the presence of his home. Jerry was born in Kansas City, Kansas on May 6th to Gerald and Connie Heathman.

Jerry worked for the Missouri Gas Energy for over 30 years and retired in 2019. He has spent the last several years enjoying the company of his wife, children, son-in-law, grandkids, and family.

We are reminded that the measure of a life is not solely in its length but in the depth of its impact. Jerry touched the hearts of all who knew him with a warmth and goodness that transcended words. He was a beacon of strength, a source of unwavering support, and a wellspring of love for his family. Jerry leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, integrity, and joy that will forever resonate in the lives he touched. His laughter echoed through our happiest moments, and his wisdom and strength guided us through challenges.

A devoted husband, Jerry and his beloved wife, Gayle Heathman shared a love story that served as a shining example of commitment and partnership. They enjoyed cooking together, hosting guests at their home for food and drinks, taking care of their dog Bandit, going fishing, and being in the comfort of their own home. Their bond, forged over 34 years, demonstrated the enduring power of love and friendship.

As a father, Jerry was a steady and loyal presence, offering guidance and encouragement with a quiet strength. His love for his two children, Kelli and Kyle, was immeasurable, and the lessons he imparted will continue to shape their lives. He is remembered by his grandchildren, Charlotte and Brooks who were his pride and joy. He loved nothing more than being a grandpa and loved the kids more than he could put into words. He sent them pictures and voice messages daily, just to tell them how much he loved them. Even when he felt his worst, he showed up for them.

Beyond his roles as a son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, Jerry was a friend to many, known for his willingness to help, loyalty, generosity, humor, and genuine interest in helping others. His impact reached far beyond his immediate family, leaving an indelible mark on a community that will miss him dearly.

Jerry's memory will be cherished through the stories we share, the laughter we remember, and the love that lives on in our hearts. Though he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit remains a guiding force, reminding us to cherish each day and embrace the bonds of family and friendship.

He is survived by his mother Connie, his wife Gayle, his children, Kelli and Kyle, his step daughter Angie and Andria, his brothers Gary (Lois) and James (Kim), his son-in-law Cody, his aunt and uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald Heathman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to your local recreational sports program for youth or the 15 and Mahomies foundation at https://www.15andthemahomies.org/ .

As we say our goodbyes, let us remember Jerry L. Heathman not with tears, but with gratitude for the gift of his presence in our lives. May his soul find eternal peace, and may we carry forward the lessons of love and loyalty he so beautifully taught us.

Forever in our hearts,
