Gertrude R. Brandy

Gertrude Rose Brandy, 90, of Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013.

She was born on February 22, 1923, in Lexington, Missouri. Gertrude married the late Harold Brandy in 1939, and they moved to Shawnee in 1950. Gertrude worked in customer service for Pilgrim House Furniture for over 20 years until she retired in 1993, at the age of 70. Gertrude was an active member of Shawnee Presbyterian Church, loved to take trips with her many friends, and enjoyed visiting and telling stories.

Her husband, Harold, and daughter, Dawn Melton, preceded Gertrude in death. Two sons survive her: Terry Brandy of Gardner, Kansas, and Renny Brandy of Shawnee. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Kristin Carpenter and husband Jay of Savonburg, Kansas, James Melton and Robert Melton, along with two great grandchildren: Jacob Carpenter and Kaitlin Carpenter.

Visitation will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas. Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m., also at Amos. Burial in Shawnee Mission Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Kansas City Hospice House.
