Gina Ruth Young-Mann passed away suddenly in January 2021 at the age of 49. She is survived by her father, J. Robert Young; her children Samantha Ruth and Jacob Ryan Mann; her brother Kevin L. Helmer; her sisters Vicki A. (Jeff) Soetaert, Margo Young-Gardey and Heather Castellano, her niece, Sydney S. Soetaert, nephews Tyler C. Soetaert and Lance L. Helmer and cousins Tommy and Susan Wiles. She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth I. Young and birth father Gary L. Helmer. Gina was born in Overland Park, Kansas on October 19th, 1971 and was a resident in early life before moving to Glenwood Springs, Colorado at the age of 5. Gina enjoyed the mountain life, learning to ski and golf and spent two years attending elementary school in the Bahamas with her youngest sister Heather. She returned to Overland Park in her late teens, and graduated from Blue Valley North High School in 1990 where she participated in cheerleading, peer counseling, pep club, powder puff football, soccer, softball, basketball, and was the High School Football Team Manager her senior year. Gina spent her freshman year of college at the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, and then went on to finish her Bachelors at Kansas University with a degree in Biology & Communications and was an avid Kansas Jayhawk. Gina was passionate and proud of her 2 children, Sami & Jake. She was an avid dog lover and cared for her last two dogs, Elvis & Dante until the very end. She supported local animal shelters and rescues.
