Glen R. "Dick" Jones, 74, of Mission, KS passed away Monday, July 23, 2018 at his home.
Dick was born March 13, 1944 to Raymond and Imogene Jones in Maryville, Missouri. He attended school in northwest Missouri before moving to Kansas City in the early 1960's. Dick worked as a cook for Waid's Restaurant and Putsch's Coffeehouse before starting a 30-year career at General Motors. He worked various jobs while at GM including proud service as a union representative and member of UAW Local 31 since 1963! He retired from GM in the early 1990's.
Since 1973, Dick has been a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite and Abdallah Shrine. He was a member of Spring Hill, Lenexa and Overland Park (#486) lodges. He was an endowed member of the Scottish Rite (Valley of Northeast Kansas) and Abdallah Temple since 1976. One of his many pleasures was working Bingo on Monday nights to help support and raise money for Shriner's Children's Hospitals. Each Monday he would religiously post on Facebook - Bingo for kids! Many people will remember Dick for his friendship and willingness to help others.
Dick married the love of his life, Yolanda (Lala) Misasi, in 1981. They spent time first watching their kids participate in various sporting events and activities. This continued when their grandchildren were born, where they could be spotted in the bleachers watching the kids whenever they could. Papa was very proud of his grandkids! Of all the names people knew him by "Papa" was his favorite.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Imogene Jones, and three brothers, Ray, Chuck and Leon. He is survived by his wife, his children, Glen, of Denver, CO; Kim (Dixie) of Kansas City, MO; Tom Carr (Carrie) of Shawnee, KS and Damon Carr (Becky) of Lee's Summit, MO.
