Glenn D. Volker, 84, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on August 14, 2013, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Stafford, Kansas, and was predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Mada Volker and his brother, Veryl Volker. He served in combat with the army in Korea, returned and dedicated 37 years of service to Bendix (Honeywell) retiring in 1992. Glenn was a horticulturist and owned his own nursery business and was a member and judge for the American Rose Society.
He was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren, who loved him dearly, and was known throughout his neighborhood as a “good Samaritan”, helping and lending a hand whenever needed.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen; sons, Lawrence (Judy), William (Kathy), James (Amy) and Philip (Grace); daughters, Janelle (DeRoy) Obilor and Catherine (Lawrence) Volker; sister, Louise (Charles) Roth; brother, Elvyn (Patti) Volker; 16 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
A memorial a service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at Amos Family Funeral Home. Visitation preceding from 1-2pm.
