Gloria Christine Henshaw, age 86, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Bishop Spencer Place after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. Gloria, the daughter of Omar and Edna Huey, was born in Lawrence, Kansas on August 20, 1932. She grew up in Lawrence and Lansing, Kansas, graduating as valedictorian from Lansing High School. High school is where Gloria met the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Henshaw. They were married for 60 years when he died in 2011. Gloria worked as a budget analyst for the Corps of Engineers and as a piano teacher, where she shared her love of music with many students over the decades. Gloria and Bob shared a love of animals, taking in numerous dogs and cats over their years together, and ensuring the wildlife passing through their yard in Kansas City, KS was well-fed. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Robin Henshaw and Donn Hess, and grandson, Owen Hess, who was the apple of his Grandma's eye. Gloria is also survived by her beloved brother, Mike Huey, and his wife Sandy, their children, Christine, Mike and Mark, spouses and grandchildren.
The family sends their gratitude to the caregivers at Bishop Spencer Place and Saint Luke's Hospice. Their devotion, laughter and care helped Gloria enjoy her days and gave our family peace of mind.
