Gretchen M. Gosch, 33 years old, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, January 3rd 2022 in Kansas City, Kansas.
Gretchen was born September 16, 1988, in North Tonawanda, New York. She was raised in Overland Park, Kansas and lived with her mother and sister. She attended the Blue Valley school district, graduated from Blue Valley North, and went on to attend Kansas State University where she graduated with a degree in Social Work. She was an active member of the Chi Omega sorority. Gretchen then completed her Master of Social Work at Washburn University.
Gretchen moved to Kansas City and pursued a career at Research Medical Center as a Social Worker. She continued to dedicate her professional life to serving others through organ and tissue donation working with Midwest Transplant Network as a Family Services Coordinator. Gretchen was a very well-liked and respected colleague at Midwest Transplant Network. She cared for the families she supported through donation as if they were her own. She left a sense of peace and warmth with whomever she was working with each day.
She is survived by her mother, Susan Gosch, her sister, Erin, sister-in-law, Lisa Clinton, and her grandfather, Lawrence D. (Don) Roederer. And so importantly, the love of her life, Kevin Brennan. She is also survived by her nieces, Amy Campbell, Amy’s husband, Andrew, Ema Wells, her great niece and nephew, Demi and Eli, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom she kept close to her heart.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Ruth Roederer, uncle Denis Roederer and her cousin Jennifer Mendez.
Gretchen had an extraordinary way of making every person she came across feel seen and special. She was a unique blend of empathy, compassion, generosity, spunk, and sassiness. Her smile and laugh were contagious and her personality would light up an entire room. She was immeasurably gifted in her calling as a Social Worker, her compassion was effortless, and she was a light to those during their darkest moments. She made an impact on every person she encountered and never knew a stranger. Gretchen was a fierce and loyal friend, and was filled with happiness, warmth, and love. She was an avid gardener, cook, reader, and had an immense love of animals, especially her three cats, Simba, Herman, and Bella. She had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest.
Gretchen was able to continue her legacy and generosity to many others by becoming a donor hero with Midwest Transplant Network. She was passionate about her work and she would be touched to know that she was able to save and enhance lives even in her death.
