Gwendolyn “Sue” Berry

Sue Berry, 68, of Shawnee, Kansas, died Thursday, January 20, 2011, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center.

Gwendolyn Sue Berry was born July 13, 1942, in Carrollton, Missouri, to George V. and F. Pauline Berry. She was a 1960 graduate of Norborne High School, attended Kansas City Business College and graduated from Rockhurst University. She worked as an accountant for over 45 years, then started a second career as a Licensed Child Care Provider for infants.

Sue was a proud member of the American Business Woman's Association (ABWA), American Society of Women Accountants (ASWA) and Zonta International. She loved to travel, garden, shop for dishes, and make wedding cakes, which earned her the nickname "The Cake Lady". She also enjoyed her beloved dachshund pets, Peanut and Cashew.

Sue is survived by her brother George F. Berry and his wife Carol of Overland Park, Kansas, niece Jean Barnes and husband Craig, great-nephew Tyler, and great-niece Bridgett Barnes. By niece Susan Wickoren and great-nephews, Maxwell, Foster and Evan Wickoren of Shawnee, Kansas. By nephew George Patrick Berry of Kansas City, Kansas. Also by a sister Betty Albrecht and her husband David of Sedalia, Missouri, niece Emily Lang and husband Chris, great-nieces, Ashton and Addison, and great-nephew Kellan Lang of Overland Park, KS. By a niece Kelly Miller and husband Justin and great-niece Savannah of Olathe, Kansas. By nephew Philip Albrecht and wife Ashley of Prairie Village, Kansas.

Visitation and Memorial Service

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 p.m., Sunday January 23, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, with a visitation to follow until 4:00 p.m.
