Harold A. Buschmeyer, 83, Shawnee, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Merriam, Kansas.
Harold was born October 9, 1928, in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Theodore E. and Lula (Witter) Buschmeyer. He was a 1945 graduate of Central High School in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Harold had an early interest in aviation and had been a licensed and rated pilot. He flew seasonal stints crop dusting and spraying in biplanes, in 1953 in Georgia andn South Carolina with the Dixie Dusting Co., and in 1954 in the Pacific Northwest with the USDA Agricultural Research Service based inForest Grove, Oregon. He worked in the Federal Aviation Administration air traffic service in the Midwest for 26 years. Harold liked to listen to music and play the piano.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and sister, Joan Rideout of Phelps, Wisconsin. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eleanor M. (Pierson) Buschmeyer of the home; daughter Karen and her husband, Craig Meigs, and grandchildren Timothy, Amy, Sarah Beth, and Valerie Meigs; brother-in-law, Harlan Pierson of St. Peters, Missouri; sister-in-law, Lorene Pierson of Shawnee, Kansas; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2012, at the Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2012. at the funeral home; burial in Shawnee Cemetery.
