Harold Dale Laverentz

December 16, 1931 — April 24, 2021

HAROLD DALE LAVERENTZ 89, of Prairie Village, KS, passed away peacefully at his home April 24,2021 with his wife and daughter at his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Opal (Sinclair) Laverentz, siblings Raymond, Eleanor Johnston, Margie Smith, nephew Kevin Johnston and niece Kathy Goudelock.

Harold grew up in Horton, Kansas near where he was born. He served as a Marine in the Korean War. After which he graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Architectural Engineering. He was employed for 39 years by Black and Veatch Consulting Engineers. He worked in special projects. Traveling frequently, he went from Atlas Missile sights to Norad, to Solar Thermal Test Facility in Albuquerque, Aberdeen Proving Grounds, to the Space Center to Saudi Arabia.

He was a longtime member of Old Mission United Methodist Church, Fairway, Kansas, where he met and married his wife Paula. He served as an usher for 50 years, served on the Board of Trustees, was liaison for the Boy Scout troop and was a member of the Pathfinders class. He designed and helped build the outdoor Nativity scene still used at the Church.

Harold was a Kiwanian, serving 3 terms as president. He was a member of several professional Engineering societies. He was a Mason.

Harold was a kind, giving, generous, considerate, and loving ,husband ,father, and granddad. He had a keen sense of humor and a quick wit. He was dearly loved.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Paula (Plunkett), daughter Nancy, son Jonathan (Seana), grandchildren Quinton, Keiran, and Piper, his brother Dick (Marilyn) and brother- in- law Tom Smith, and many nieces and nephews.

Private family graveside burial. Memorial service and reception to be announced at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to City Union Mission or Old Mission United Method Church.
