Harold Lawrence Schmitz

Harold L. Schmitz, 89, Shawnee, KS passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Garden Terrace of Overland Park, KS.

Harold L. Schmitz was born July 6, 1925 in Newman Grove, NE to Matthew and Paulina Schmitz. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII. Harold worked in construction with the Tobin Construction Co. for 47 years.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Schmitz on Feb. 18, 2007. Survivors include his three daughters, Rose (Terry) DeCourcy, Shawnee, KS, Bonnie Schmitz, Overland Park, KS and Paula Schmitz, Harrisonville, MO; two sons, Jim (Gwen) Schmitz, and Alan Schmitz, both of Tonganoxie, KS; two sisters, Margaret Honke, and Mary Fuhrer, both of Butte, NE; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 22 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church; burial in the Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call from 6-7:30 pm Thursday at the Amos Family Funeral Home, where a rosary recitation will be at 7:30 pm.
