Harold Eugene "Gene" Toomay, 86, Shawnee, KS passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at his residence, Shawnee, KS. Gene was born Nov. 29, 1927 in Braymer, MO to Clyde R. and Herma C. Toomay. He was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Gene retired from the US Postal Service as a Postal Supervisor. He was a past president of NARFE Chapter 1988 in Warsaw, MO. Gene was a Deacon at Colony Baptist Church, as well as a church bus driver and Sunday school teacher. Gene was also a Democratic Committeeman for North Union Township.

Gene was preceded in death by his son, David Eugene Toomay and daughter, Cathy N. Toomay. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Toomay; two daughters, Denise (Chuck) Brooks, Olathe, KS and Susan (Rick) Toomay, Summerfield, KS; sister, Barbara A. Mayhugh, Blue Springs, MO; brother, Roy Dean (Marcie) Toomay, Garden Grove, CA; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 15 at the Westside Family Church, 8500 Woodsonia Drive, Lenexa, KS 66227.
