Harriet Harper, 97, Roeland Park, KS went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 16, 2014. Mrs. Harper was born January 13, 1917 in Girard, Kansas to Ernest and Nellie Potter. She received a bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Kansas State Teachers College of Pittsburg. Harriet was employed with the Gas Service Company and later with Suzee’s Fashions of Overland Park. She was a longtime member of Old Mission United Methodist Church.

Harriet is preceded in death by her husband, Duane R. "Bruce" Harper; brother Leonard Potter; sisters Ellen Greenleaf and Georgia Clayton; son Steven Harper, and daughter-in-law Debora Harper. Survivors include her son, Richard Harper, Roeland Park, KS; grandson James Harper, Olympia, WA; daughter-in-law Carolyn Harper, Hillsboro, OR; brother-in-law Joe Clayton, Bartlesville, OK; niece Barbara Schrag, Overland Park, KS, and nephews Dr. John Clayton, Edmond, OK, David Potter, Overland Park, KS.

Visitation and Graveside Services

Services and burial will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at Highland Park Cemetery, Pittsburg, KS. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS.
