Helen (Marie) Callaghan- Owen, 90 passed away May 8, 2014 at Villa St. Francis in Olathe, Kansas. Helen was born March 1, 1924 in Kansas City, Kansas to Charles L. and Lola May Callaghan. Helen is retired from the Shawnee Mission Post Office after 29 years and retired from El Paso County, Colorado after 1990. She lived in many different places such as Kansas City, KS, Merriam, KS, Shawnee and Overland Park, KS, Osceola, Missouri and Colorado Springs, Colorado. Helen was an avid volunteer with the American Cancer and MS Society. Mom was always a sports enthusiast, supported nature conservancy and the arts. Helen is survived by her daughters; Christine Still and Delores Fender, son, Steve Owen, six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sisters, Catherine Downey, Anna Armstrong. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lawrence (Larry); son, Michael L. Owen; brothers, William (Jerry), Joe, and Charles Callaghan.

Services

A Visitation has been scheduled from 5:00 - 8:00 pm, Monday, May 12, 2014 at The Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive Shawnee, Kansas 66203. A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for 10:00 am, Tuesday May 13, 2014 also at the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa, Kansas.
