Helen M. Henderson

Helen Marie Henderson, 93 passed away peacefully March 5, 2013, at Kansas City Hospice House.

Helen was born November 24, 1919 in Beagle, KS, the third of six children, to John S and Anna Kettler Sheehan. She was a graduate of Osawatomie High School and continued well into her eighties to attend the annual alumni luncheon. She moved to Kansas City, Mo in 1940 where she met and worked with Lloyd W. Henderson. They married January 24, 1941, and raised five children in Kansas City, KS and Overland Park.

Helen was a professional grade seamstress, avid college sports fan especially KU and K-State, and ardent political junkie. She was active in Blessed Sacrament Church in Kansas City, KS. A member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish, Overland Park. She belonged to the Daughters of Isabella.

Helen, an independent woman, lived on her own as an Army Air Force wife during WWII with two children and again for ten years until her death. In addition to her beloved husband, who died in April of 2003, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John, and sisters Rosemary Moler, Pauline Buckner, and Elizabeth Williams.

She is survived by daughters Anna Marie Henderson, West Sacramento, CA and Patricia Hoffman (Larry) of El Macero, CA, sons Lloyd (Cathy), James (Candice) of Overland Park and John (Gloria) of Leavenworth and sister Dorothy (Paul) Bohr of Lenexa, as well as ten grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass and Visitation

A funeral Mass will be held Friday, March 8, 2013 at 11am at Queen of the Holy Rosary Church, Overland Park, preceded by a visitation at the church beginning at 10am. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Paola, KS.

Memorial Contributions

The family suggests in lieu of flowers that contributions be made to Kansas City Hospice House and Queen of the Holy Rosary Church
