Helen Lichtenauer, 87, of Shawnee, Kansas, died March 9, 2011, at Shawnee Gardens Nursing Center.
Helen was born February 23, 1924, in Kansas City, Kansas, to Mathew and Mary (Gasperac) Malnar. Helen grew up on Strawberry Hill in Kansas City, Kansas. On May 26, 1951, Helen married George M. Lichtenauer at Holy Family Catholic Church in Kansas City, Kansas. Helen was employed with the Shawnee State Bank for many years. Helen and her family lived in the Black Swan Estates for over 50 years. She enjoyed sewing and bowling. Helen had a very strong devotion to her family.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, George on April 3, 2001, brother, Frank Malnar and three sisters, Annie Gricher, Marie Drascovich and Frances Baltuska. Survivors include her two sons, David M. Lichtenauer and wife, Tara Thomas, Johnston, Iowa, and Mark G. Lichtenauer, Shawnee. Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation and Funeral Service
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, where a Rosary will be recited at 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 12, 2011, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Shawnee, Kansas. Burial will follow in Resurrection Mausoleum, Lenexa, Kansas.
