Helen L. Wendt

Helen Wendt, 98, of Merriam, KS/Lees Summit, MO, died Thursday, May 12, 2016. Helen was born in Kansas City Missouri, lived in Roeland Park, Merriam, Lee’s Summit, and Paola at the end of her life.

She was the daughter of George and Leona Fischer. She had a sister, Georgia Swartz and a brother, Karl Fischer all of whom preceded her in death.

She was a beautician for over 25 years, and she spent 2 years in the Marine Corp. She belonged to a Presbyterian church for most of her life, and was a life member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.

Her husband, Harold (Dusty) Wendt, of 52 years preceded her in death.

She has a daughter, Janice Corbin, a son, Don Wendt, 4 grandsons, Chad Corbin, Kelly Corbin, Eric Wendt, and Travis Wendt. She also has 6 great granddaughters, Sierra, Danielle, Kylie, Katelyn, Mallory, Madeline, and 1 grandson Leon.

She was a very loving person who made people laugh everywhere she went, even in the last days of her life. She will be missed.

A visitation will be held at the Amos Family Funeral Home Monday, May 16, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Johnson County Memorial Chapel, 11200 Metcalf Overland Park, KS, Tuesday May 17, 2016 at 11 a.m.
