Herbert V. Deremer

Herbert V. Deremer, 90, passed away on March 27th, 2019, at his home in Shawnee, Kansas, surrounded by his loving family.

Herb was born near Flintstone, Maryland on November 3rd, 1928, to Marshall and Edna (Fisher) Deremer.

On August 9, 1949, Herb married Maedean Patterson. He is survived by his wife Maedean, his son Bill and wife Peggy, of Meriden KS; daughters Jane Hodgdon of Allen, KS, Barbara Turner and husband Patrick of Topeka, KS and Nancy Bowling and husband Leister of Longmont, CO. 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. His sister Doris Spinato, Commerce, TX, and brother Joe Deremer and wife Reba, Barton, MD.

The Deremers raised their family primarily in Colby, Kansas, where Herb worked for and retired as the General Manager of KXXX Radio Station in 1983. He subsequently consulted, managed and/or owned radio stations in Ulysses and Oberlin, Kansas, and in McCook, Nebraska. The Deremers relocated to Shawnee, Kansas in 1994.

Herb was preceeded in death by his parents, brothers Edwin, Robert and John; sisters Wilda Layton and Stella Hebner, and by his grandson, Mitchell Zimmerman.

A funeral service will be held at Amos Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr, Shawnee, KS 66203 on Friday, March 29th at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at Old Monticello Cemetery.
