Hilda E. Finkemeier

March 31, 1909 — April 4, 2015

Hilda Elizabeth Finkemeier passed peacefully from this mortal life to her heavenly home early Saturday morning, April 4, 2015 at the amazing age of 106. She was born March 31, 1909 to her German emigrant parents, Philip and Marianna Bentz, in the Argentine district of Kansas City, Kansas. The 3rd youngest of 10 children, she far outlived the four sisters and two brothers who survived beyond early childhood, all but one of them living well into their 70's and 80's. She grew up, married and lived her entire life in the Kansas City area although she became an inveterate world traveler in her middle and older years and continued traveling domestically into her 102nd year. She and her husband, Karl, also a German emigrant, raised three children and operated the well-known Finkemeier Bakery during their 50 year marriage. Hilda was a wonderfully kind, generous, and witty woman who made everyone feel welcome in her home and in her life and was an inspiration for many people both young and old. Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, oldest son (Harold), 3 daughters-in-law, a Great grandson and 2 Great great granddaughters. She is survived by her son, Robert William "Bill" (Vigrinia), her daughter, Janet Vetter (George), 7 Grandchildren, 14 Great grandchildren, 15 Great great grandchildren, and 2 Great great great grandchildren. She will be sincerely missed by all of her friends and family.
