Ingrid Ann Campbell of Shawnee, Kansas passed away unexpectedly on October 31st, 2023 at 3:28 A.M. at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She was born to Warren R. and Annelies (Krause) Campbell in Piqua, Ohio on November 19, 1962.
She spent her childhood growing up in Winona Lake, Indiana. She graduated from Warsaw High School in 1981, Indiana University in 1985, and Valparaiso University School of Law in 1988. She started her career with the Federal Court system in Portland, Oregon, eventually moving to the Kansas City area where she acted as the Chief Deputy Clerk for the United States District Court. She retired in 2020 with nearly 30 years of dedicated service to the U.S. Courts.
Ingrid’s greatest accomplishment was raising her son, Jackson, to be the fine young man he is today. She will be sorely missed by him. Ingrid loved returning to Winona Lake, especially to celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends. She was fortunate to have traveled throughout Europe, Thailand, New Zealand, and across the U.S.
In recent years she had become a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and enjoyed watching the games with many friends. She also enjoyed spending her time gardening at her home, going skiing, waterskiing, and swimming whenever she had the chance.
She fought cancer with dignity and courage, and she never wanted to show people how much she was hurting. She was incredibly independent and never wanted to burden anyone.
She was so loved, and we are incredibly pained that she had to leave us so early. She never smoked, hardly drank alcohol, and really lived a healthy lifestyle. We wish we could understand why she was burdened with so much pain when she was such a good, healthy person.
We are happy that she no longer has to be in pain; and have gratitude knowing that she made this world a better place while she was here.
Ingrid was a wonderful mother, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Jackson (Emily Belin) Burnett; sisters: Yvonne (Andy) Strack (Kendallville, IN); Heidi (Eric) Younger (Ketchum, ID). She was loved by her nephews: Andrew (Carolyn), Christian (Ashley), Anthony (Stephanie), Evan (Lydia Platt) Strack, Kai and Zachary Younger. She is preceded in death by her parents and numerous aunts and uncles. She is survived by an aunt, Marilyn Bolinger, of Texas.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m., Saturday, November 4th, 2023 at the Amos Family Funeral Home followed by a memorial service at 3:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to: Shawnee Mission Northwest Cross Country Foundation In care of: Van Rose 7568 Eicher Dr. Shawnee, KS 66217.
