Irvin M. Clevenger

January 31, 1925 — December 5, 2019

Irvin Marvin Clevenger, 94, of Olathe, KS, passed away December 5, 2019. He was born on January 31, 1925 in Braymer, MO to Sherman and Cordia Clevenger. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. In 1948 he married the love of his life, Helen Bashor and they raised 4 children together. They enjoyed playing cards. They would play canasta with her sister and husband until the early hours of the morning. Irv graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in electrical engineering. He was a field engineer for IBM, repairing computers that at the time would fill a large room. After taking early retirement from IBM at the age of 55, he made use of some of his many other talents. He started a bathtub repair business, which lives on thru his son Greg. For a while he was even part owner of Shawnee Kawasaki Motorcycles. Irv was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Irvin was proceeded in death by his parents and son Michael. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Helen, two sons, Richard (Patrice) and Gregory (Rosella), a daughter, Deborah (Lance) George, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his older sister Ruby McBee.

Visitation will be held at Amos Family Funeral Home on Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 6-8pm.  Funeral service will be Monday, December 9, at 1 pm, Amos Family Funeral Home.  Burial will be held at Johnson County Memorial Gardens.

Memorial donations may be made to Heart of America Chapter - Alzheimer’s Association.
