Isadore “Izzy” Brulez

Isadore J. Brulez, 90, of Overland Park, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011, at Villa St. Francis.

Izzy was born March 2, 1921, to the late Charles and Elizabeth Brulez in Lenexa, Kansas. Izzy lived his entire life in Johnson County, and farmed the family farm at 11300 W. 103rd Street until he moved to Villa St. Francis in 2007. He devoted himself to humbly caring for and serving the parish, its organizations, it parishioners, its students and the physical property of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. He loved the Lord, his fellow man, the land, and, all that the Lord provided.

Izzy will always be remembered for his devotion to his mother, Elizabeth, who lived to be 107 years old, and also his infectious smile. Although he never married, he was surrounded by a large family of loving cousins, an the attentive parishioners of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. A permanent memorial to Isadore is located in the church.

Izzy is survived by 14 first cousins, Anna Brulez Schlagel, Lenexa, Kansas, Marchel Brulez, Shawnee, Kansas, Margriet Sintobin, Belgium, Cyriel Sintobin, Belgium, Josephine Brulez Tidwell, Austin, Texas, Albert Brulez, New Boston, Michigan; Rita DeBrabander, Lenexa, KS; Leo Hoehn, Paola, KS; Arthur Hoehn, Shawnee, KS; Dorothy Jesbert, Wellsville, Kansas, Earl Hoehn, Lenexa, Kansas, Paul Hoehn, Blue Springs, Missouri, Rose Halbert, Lenexa, Kansas, JoAnn McAnany, Louisburg, Kansas, Rosemary Beason, and dozens of other loving cousins.

Visitation and Funeral Service

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. with rosary at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m., Friday, May 13, 2011, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Lenexa.
