Ivory W. Jones

Ivory Jones, 78, of Overland Park, KS, passed away on September 13th, 2018.  He was born on October 20th, 1939 in Orange, TX to Ivory and Hilda Jones.  Ivory graduated from Wallace High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Technology from Texas State University.

He worked at NASA and later he began working and retired from Eastman Kodak. After he retired, he went back to work in Corporate Security for Sprint and UMB Bank.

In his leisure time he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren and coaching football from the couch. He was passionate about education and motivating and encouraging others.

Ivory is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and uncle; Ivory is survived by his loving wife, Rutha Jones of 17 years; sons, Al Jones and Donavin (Cynthia)Taylor; daughter, Shannan Manning; sisters, Justine Jones and Felica Jones; godson, Malvin Warwick; six grandchildren, Adrian, Laron, Destiny, Kiyan, Anthony, and Jesse; two great grandchildren, Lashay and Aliyah; and many nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, family, friends and acquaintances.

A visitation will be 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Saturday, September 22nd, 2018 at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, Kansas.  A funeral service will immediately follow at 12:00 PM.
