Jack “Jackie” Wayne Campbell

Jack “Jackie” Wayne Campbell, passed from this life on to the next on December 22, 2015.

Jack was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on October 2, 1938. Jack and his older brother Hugh Gerald Campbell moved around much of their younger life as their father held sales positions in different places. He was very proud of his older brother and what he had accomplished in his life. After the passing of his father Hugh Alva Campbell, both boys spent a great amount of time with their grandmother, who they loved very much.

He, along with his mother Lillian Geraldine and step-father Burleson McDonald, moved to Turner, Kansas in 1953 after his older brother Hugh joined the United States Marine Corp. He graduated from Turner High School in 1956 and in July of 1958 married Jaqueline ( Jackie ) Rae Taylor from Argentine, Kansas. After getting married they moved to Shawnee which is where he lived the rest of his life. Jack enjoyed the companionship of his father in law Joseph Weston ( Joe )Taylor on their many hunting trips together and always talked about how he was like his own father, since his had passed away when he was so young They had three children together, Cynthia Lee, Robert Wayne and Joseph Weston.

Jack worked for the engineering firm of Campbell, Barber & Lambeth on the survey crew their first couple years of marriage. He then went on to work for Water District # 1 of Johnson County for the next 17 years starting out as a meter reader and eventually working in Human Resources. While at the Water District he graduated from JCCC with his associate's degree.

From the mid 70's to early 80's he worked in real estate starting with his good friend Roger Cline at AJ Lang & Assoc. Realtors in Shawnee. He eventually went on to be manager of the Eugene D. Brown Realty office in Shawnee. From the early 90's until 2007 he worked for Roger Smith & Sons Toyota in Kansas City, Kansas as their finance manager, a job he really enjoyed. After many years of dating he married his beloved Robin.

He and Robin led a very full life traveling and entertaining with all of their friends. They both loved the beach and he would often tell you about their trips to Ft. Meyers and Key West. They were full of life together and if you ever had the opportunity to be at the pool parties in their town home community you could tell. They traveled many places with their good friends Dick & Nancy Dover and there was always a good story to tell upon their return. Robin passed away in November of 2010 and he never stopped talking about her and the times they shared together. Jack continued to travel with his family until shortly before his passing.

Jack is survived by his daughter Cynthia Lee Hayes ( Mark ), son Joseph Weston Campbell ( Laura ) and his step son Sam Smith ( Jennifer ), grandchildren Dillon Hayes, Logan Hayes, Lauren Chalk ( Chris ) Weston Campbell, Anna Campbell, step grandchild Rylea Smith and Brother Kyle McDonald. Jack was preceded in death by his father Hugh Alva Campbell, his mother Lillian Geraldine, his son Robert Wayne Campbell, his brother Hugh Gerald Campbell and Daniel McDonald.

Celebration of Life Services

A celebration of Jack’s life will be Tuesday, January 5th, from 5 to 7 pm, at the Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee.
