Jack D. “Dave” Debusman

March 9, 1945 — March 13, 2020

J. Dave DeBusman, 75, of Shawnee, KS died March 13, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO.

Dave was born March 9, 1945 to the late Jack and Christine DeBusman in Kansas City, MO.  He served for 4 years in the U.S. Air Force Secret Service and obtained the highest security clearance possible.  Dave went on to attend the University of Kansas where he graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor's degree in Architecture.  He served as the Director of Architecture for the State of Kansas under Joan Finney's 4-year administration.  He also served as the Director of Architecture and Grounds at Kansas State University for 15 years.  In his free time, Dave was an avid sailor, and spent many hours aboard his boat "HAGAR" while living at Lake Perry, Kansas; and designed over 80 homes.  Dave was one of those special people, liked by all.   He loved to travel and made videos of his journey's on YouTube (search Dave DeBusman videos, several towns Chamber of Commerce have used his videos).

He is survived by 2 sisters, Denise Rost and husband Mark; Linda Mellott and husband Mitch.

Thank you to the Cardiologist and nurses at St. Luke's Hospital Plaza, Kansas City, MO.  They became our family!

Celebration of Life Services

A celebration of Dave's life will be held at Lake Perry later this spring.
