Jack W. Fries, 84, Mission, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2011, at the Sweet Life of Grand Court, Overland Park, Kansas.

Jack was born October 1, 1927, in Wichita, Kansas, to Lawrence F. and Edith (Gould) Fries. Jack was a veteran of the US Army 11th Airborne Division and had a passion for aviation. His pride and joy was his family and his love for his Pietenpol aircraft project that he was building.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, of 56 years, Carolyn L. Fries on April 10, 2011. Survivors include two daughters, Ginny (Charles) Lyon and Amy (Kevin) Lutz all of Overland Park, Kansas; son, Lawrence (Linda) Fries, Louisburg, Kansas; brother, Jim Fries, Kansas City, Missouri; six grandchildren, Kate Shoemaker, Kyle Lyon, Sam and Alex Lutz and Kendal and Trevor Fries; and great granddaughter, Sabella Shoemaker.

Memorial service will be 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at Southminster Presbyterian Church, 6306 Roe Avenue, Prairie Village, Kansas 66208.
