Jack Neumayer's life may have started as a blank canvas, but through his faith in God a masterpiece was created. That masterpiece was full of color - the colors of humility, kindness, caring, giving, teaching and above all humor.
His work was completed here on Earth on February 20th, 2013. He leaves behind two brothers, Bob and Dave; three daughters, Jan, Kay and Jill; a son-in-law, Delayne Deeke; a grandson, Rhett and his fiancé, Leyden Sensen; and nephews and nieces. Countless are the many friends who will also feel his absence.
Born in St. Louis, Missouri, on September 19, 1918, to Edna and John M. Neumayer, Sr., Jack was the oldest of three boys.
In 1938, Jack's family moved to Kansas City. He met Lorayne M. Carr, while working at North American. They were married October 16, 1943, and remained together for almost fifty years, before Lorayne passed away in May of 1993. They made many long time friends through the square dancing clubs they joined, the Loma Vista functions and PTA activities.
Recognizing the need for a hospital in the community, Dad became a member of the "kitchen table committee" which helped create Shawnee Mission Hospital.
Jack and his family joined Trinity Lutheran Church - a small mission congregation on Nall. Dad's creative and artistic talents were again put to use as he served on numerous councils and committees, taught Sunday School, Adult Bible Classes, helped create an annual art show and designed many of the stained glass windows and banners still seen today.
Dad's life left us with a legacy of artwork, but his life was the greatest masterpiece.
Dad supported many charities - with his talents, time and money, therefore we encourage you to do the same with your favorite charities.
