Jack Marshall Nickel

d. February 1, 2015

Jack Marshall Nickel, Grandview, Mo. passed away on February 1, 2015 at the age of 63.

Born and raised in the Kansas City area, the son of Marshall (or "Nick", as everyone knew him) and Ann.

Jack was an artist. He spent years mastering the art of photography. But he will always be remembered for the master craftsmanship he displayed in the beautiful wood crafts he has created over the years. He also loved sandwiches and could cook up a mean batch of chili.

He was a man of fierce loyalty and dedication, spending 23 years in the service of TruGreen Chemlawn as a salesman. He was a quiet man who found simple joys in life. Sometimes it was something as simple as a comfortable chair with his trusty dog, Biscuit, at his feet.

In 1989, Jack dedicated his life to Anita, and the rest is history. They found common ground in the portrait studio, on the golf course - they actually got married on one - and in the casinos. Jack loved blackjack.

But there was nothing he loved more than spending time with his family. He saw his daughter Julia marry Spencer in 2010. He was a father figure and more to Anita's kids, Tim, Tricia, and Nancy.

Then there were the grandkids. Eight of them. Nicolas. Haleigh. Zoe. Katie. Owen. Chloe. Lauren. and Max. He loved every one of them more than they will ever know.

Among his many kids and grandkids, Jack is also survived by his step-father Gene and Sheila.

A memorial service and reception will be held on Thursday, February 5th from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Hollis Renewal Center at 11414 Kansas Ave. in Kansas City, Kansas. You are welcome to join friends and family to celebrate the life of our friend, Jack.
