James H. Brock, 65, of Kansas City, KS, passed away Friday, April 26, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born October 14, 1947 to the late Howard and Irene Brock in Kansas City, MO. A lifelong Kansas City area resident, Jim attended Holy Name Grade School and graduated from Bishop Miege High School in 1965. After graduation Jim earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Kansas in 1969. Later in life he returned to Central Missouri State University and completed a Master's Degree in School Administration. Jim served in the United States Marine Corps for 21 years before retiring in 1987. Jim was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Parish where he was active in the St. Agnes Dinner Theater. He was an instructor for Herndon Career Center for 22 years, where he taught Advertising Arts. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and passionate about his family. He enjoyed spending time barbecuing with his family and grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Carolyn; five children, Jennifer Young and husband Jim; Michael Brock and wife Krystal; Pamela Garcia and husband Peter; David Brock and wife Dawn; Christopher Brock and wife Elizabeth; 12 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 1 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 5250 Mission Rd., Roeland Park, KS 66205. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the church.
