James Campbell

December 19, 1933 — May 5, 2015

James R. Campbell 81, was born December 19, 1933, to Teddy Roosevelt Campbell and Alice Carolyn Shogran Campbell as their only child. He passed away on May 5, 2015 at the Kansas City VA Medical Center.

Jim grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and attended Wyandotte High School. After graduation, he attended Kansas City Kansas Community College where he played basketball as a Blue Devil. He also attended Emporia State University.

Jim married Barbara Carol Morris of Kansas City, Kansas on May 28, 1954. The U.S. Army drafted Jim in 1956. He served in Europe as a member of his regiment’s touring basketball team entertaining troops during the Cold War.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and great-granddaughter, Abrianna. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; four children, Jim, Jr. and wife Michelle of Olathe, KS, Greg of Kansas City, MO, Scott of Roeland Park, KS, Ann Weber and husband Dave Wagner of Lawrence, KS; grandchildren, Gregory and wife Abby, LeAnna, James, Nina, Cody Weber, Elle Weber, Paige Wagner, and Casey Wagner; great grandchildren, Evan and Madelynn.

Jim loved his family, friends, animals, and life. He was an avid sports fan, with devotion to the Kansas City Royals, Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks.

Visitation and Memorial Service

Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 p.m., Monday, May 11, 2015, at the Amos Family Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 p.m.
