James “Jim” Michael Glenn

James “Jim” Michael Glenn, 69, of Highland, Kansas, passed away in his sleep on Saturday, September 26, 2015, after battling Alzheimer’s disease for several years. Jim was born August 23, 1946 in St. Joseph, Missouri, the oldest child of Leland and Hilda (Summers) Glenn. He graduated from Jefferson High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1964. On January 14, 1967, he married Patricia (Kelley) Glenn, of Cedar Rapids. Jim worked as an electrician and maintenance mechanic for FMC, Quaker Oats, and General Mills. He was very skilled with his hands, whether it was fixing cars, creating machinery components, or building a house. Jim’s passions included running, hiking, motorcycle riding, and target shooting. He was generous, had a terrific sense of humor, possessed a sharp mind, loved a challenge, and was a very hard worker. Jim was a loving father and grandfather, who enjoyed playing with the young ones on their level. Jim is survived by his ex-wife Pat, their son Kelley of Pleasanton, California, their daughter Aimee Geis of Lenexa, Kansas, Kelley’s wife Deborah (Rice) and their sons Michael and Matthew, Aimee’s husband Robert and their daughter Anna and sons Asa and Aubrey, his siblings Catherine, Thomas (Marie), Diana (Donald), Patrick (Catherine), Roger (Donna), and Robert (Linda), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Leland in 1989 and Hilda in 2008.

Visitation and Services

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Legacy Christian Church, 10150 Antioch Road, Overland Park, Kansas. Pastor Pete Holmes will officiate the funeral service at 6:00 PM. Jim’s final resting place will be among the peaks of the Colorado Rockies, one of his favorite vacation destinations.
