James Earl Hopkins

Jim Hopkins, 75, of Lenexa, KS, passed peacefully from this life to his eternal home surrounded by his family on December 31, 2017.

Jim was born May 15, 1942 to Edward and Virginia Hopkins in Lathrop, MO. Jim was a long time Johnson County Developer / Homebuilder and was a member of the KCHBA. He attended Lenexa Baptist Church. His favorite hobby was restoring and driving his classic cars and attending car shows. He loved NASCAR racing, hunting, fishing, and enjoyed traveling and spending the winter in Arizona.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Eddie and Ralph. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marilyn, his son, Mike and sisters, Tody (Robert) Sullivan of Midwest City, OK, Jan Nelson of Plattsburg, MO, Faye Sims of Lathrop, MO and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m., Friday at the Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr., Shawnee, KS. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday at Lenexa Baptist Church with burial in Lathrop Cemetery, Lathrop, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The American Cancer Society or Kansas Special Olympics.
