James G. Horner, 77, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2011.
Jim grew up in Merriam and Shawnee, Kansas, and was a lifelong resident of the area. He was employed by the Gas Service Company and retired in 1989 after 38 years of service.
After his retirement, he and his wife Alice (AKay) traveled with their best friends mostly to wherever they could walk on the beaches and Jim could golf. Jim was an avid golfer and enjoyed the game for many years with close friends, mostly from the American Legion Post 327 of Shawnee. Jim and his golf buddies traveled to many places to play golf, his favorite was Mazatlan, Mexico.
Jim and AKay love the time they spent at their Lake of the Ozarks home. Jim dearly loved his family above all else and was always near to them and involved with their lives. Jim was a friends to everyone he met and enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be sadly missed by all whose lives he touched.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles and Catherine Horner and his son, Frank Horner. He is survived by his wife, Alice K. Horner; daughters, Bonnie Burnley (Michael) and Claudia Sikes; son, Michael Horner; step-son, Richard Hartsell (Barbara); brother, Bill Horner; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 30, 2011, at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. Cremation.
