James Robert “Bob” Kearney

March 4, 1927 — March 28, 2017

Bob Kearney, 90, passed away on March 28, 2017.  James was born in Ennis, County Clare, Ireland on March 4, 1927. The son of Mary Kate and John James Kearney, he was one of seven children.  Bob was a butcher/meat cutter by trade.  Bob left his home in Ireland and became a US Citizen in 1957.  He was married to Evelyn Norene McMahon, also of Kansas City in 1959.  He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.  Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, who passed in 2007.  He is survived by his children and their spouses, Eileen Kearney (Chris), Mary Ripley (Jim), Brian Kearney (Barbara), and Patty Elder (Brad); 10 grandchildren-Brian, Danny, Lindsay, Claire, Shamus, Hope, Ayden, Liam, Collin, and Michael.  He will be missed by many but leaves us all with this saying "May all your traffic lights be green."

Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, with the Mass of Christian burial following at 10:30 a.m. at Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the St. Luke’s Hospice House or the Kansas City Irish Center.
