James B. Lorenz

James B. "Jim" Lorenz, 81, Mission, KS passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Menorah Medical Center, Overland Park, KS.

James was born May 1, 1934 in St. Joseph, MO to Bernard R. and Agnes Lorenz. He earned his B.S. degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Missouri at Rolla. James began working with Black & Veatch in 1957. He retired as a Senior Engineer in 2007 after 50 years of service. During his time with B&V, James traveled to many places including, Brazil, India, Africa, and Cayman Islands. Professional Associations include ASCE, MSPE and AWWA

James was a past city councilman for the City of Mission. His duties included, finance, planning commission, fire district and helped plan the Sylvester Powell Community Center. He was a member of Knights of Columbus.

James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Ruth Ann (White) Lorenz; daughter Susan Lorenz, Mission, KS; two sons, Mark (Olivia) Lorenz, Colorado Springs, CO and David Lorenz, Westminster, CO; two sisters, Joan Monaghan, Kansas City, MO and Dorothy Stock, Leavenworth, KS; two brothers, Robert Lorenz, Milwaukee, WI and Thomas Lorenz, North Kansas City, MO; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18 at the St. Pius X Catholic Church; entombment in the Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, where a rosary recitation will begin at 9:30 a.m.
