James “Jim” Marsh

James "Jim" W. Marsh, 85 years old, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2015 after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Jim was born in Oklahoma on Sept. 27, 1929, and grew up in Missouri. He moved to Kansas City in 1950 and worked as the controller of Just Rite Grocery Stores for 21 years. In 1978, he opened his own grocery store, Marsh's Sun Fresh in Westport. He was a dedicated, hardworking, man who was loyal to his employees and in return, loved and respected by them.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Louise "Lou" Marsh. He is also survived by his daughters; Brenda Marsh, his son, Gary Marsh and Daughter in law, Deanna Marsh. He was preceded in death by sister, Fern Lyons and brother, Bob Marsh.

The family wishes to offer their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Bickford of Mission Springs and Crossroads Hospice for their loving care and support, also a huge thanks to Dr. Paul Kurth of Sunflower Medical Group.

A visitation will be at The Amos Family Funeral Home 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, Kansas 66203 on August 19, 2015 from 1pm to 3pm. A memorial service will follow at 3pm.
