Dear Friends and Family,
It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing of our dear James “Yoshi” May. James departed from this world on the morning of Monday, July 1st. James, fondly known as Yoshi, was a friend, a valued community member, and a colleague whose influence was as significant as his joyful presence.
James’s absence has left a void that cannot be filled with words, and we will deeply miss him. We cordially invite you to commemorate James’s life, honor his memory, and bid him a heartfelt farewell. The service will take place on Saturday, July 13th, at 10:00 am at Shawnee Mission Park, Shelter 12.
Let us come together during this time of grief to cherish the warmth of his smile, the kindness of his soul, and the lasting legacy he has left behind. James was born at Beaufort Naval Hospital in Beaufort, South Carolina, in 1984.
James and his mother relocated to Virginia Beach, VA, to join his father, who was transferred and stationed in Norfolk, VA. James grew up in Virginia Beach, attending school through grade 12. He had a magnetic personality, making friends with everyone he met.
James is survived by his mother, Debra J. May; his father, Dr. James E. May of Chesapeake, VA; his step-mother, Miriam G. May, also of Chesapeake, VA; his uncle, John A. May of Staten Island, NY; his Aunt Jessica V. May-Wickersty of Bayonne, NJ, and his grandfather, John A. May of Abingdon, MD. His family lovingly called him Jimmy.
