James Clinton Parker, known as "Clint" to some and "Captain" to others, passed away on the afternoon of February 2nd, 2020 from complications of dementia at the Brookdale memory care facility in Shawnee, Kansas. Clint was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on February 10th, 1933 and lived to be 86 years old. He was the son of George Burton Parker and Mabel Darnall Parker of Melville, Louisiana, and the brother of George Burton Parker Jr. also of Melville, Louisiana.
Clint lived all over Louisiana at one point or another in his life including Alexandria, Bunkie, New Orleans, Shreveport, Metairie, and Melville. Growing up, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, and playing baseball.
Clint graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport in 1951 and was a member of the rifle team as well as the high school ROTC. In 1955 Clint graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology. He was on the rifle team, ROTC, and was a member of the Sigma Chi men's fraternity.
In 1956 Clint joined the United States Air Force and worked hard to become a fighter pilot ultimately flying the F-86D Sabre and the F-102 Delta Dagger fighter aircrafts. He also served in the Air Force Reserves afterward and was honorably discharged in 1965.
In 1962, Clint married Joanna George then had their first child Lynne Marie Parker in 1963. In 1965 the three moved to Shawnee, Kansas when Clint took a job with TWA Airlines where he worked for 26 years. In 1968 Clint and Joanna had their second child James Clinton Parker II.
Clint loved his family, his grandchildren, the LSU Tigers, the Kansas City Chiefs, John Wayne, Westerns, golfing, shooting trap and skeet, reading, smoking his pipe, and had a dog by his side almost every day of his life. He is survived by his son James C Parker II, daughter-in-law Amy Parker, and grandchildren Brandon Parker, Luke Parker, and Faith Parker.
Services will be held February 10th at Amos Family Funeral Home in Shawnee, Kansas. 6pm - 7pm visitation. 7pm to 8pm memorial service.
He will be laid to rest in Melville, Louisiana close to his mother, father, and brother in the United Methodist Church Cemetery.
