James L. Robnett (Jim), age 81 passed away peacefully at home the morning of March 29, 2023 after a long history of heart disease.
Jim was born June 29, 1941 in Kansas City, Kansas to Richard M. and Nema P. Robnett. Jim attended Parker Elementary and Northwest Jr. High. He was a 1959 graduate of Wyandotte High School. He delivered the Kansan newspaper for several years in the mid-1950’s. He was a long-time member of the Central Christian Church. He was employed for many years in the plumbing and heating industry. Jim was a 15-year member of the Providence Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Group. He was a lifetime sports fan, including little league baseball and high school football, and later coached several men’s basketball and fast-pitch softball teams. He was a one-time co-owner of Bethel Tavern in KCK. He was also a huge pet lover. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother-in-law, Leola Vogel. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, best-friend, and wife of 61 years, Mary Catherine Vogel Robnett; two daughters, Shari Lynn Webster (Doug) and Julia Robnett-Presley (Ken); four beloved grandchildren – Brayden Presley (Lainey), Bryce Presley (Isabel), Rachel Webster, and Jacob Webster- bright lights in his life! Jim leaves behind one brother, Jerald R. Robnett (Brenda), four brothers-in-law who were as close as brothers, John, Jim (Kathy), Bob (Joyce), and Bill (Sherri) Vogel; as well as many beloved nephews and nieces. Jim was thankful and considered himself very lucky to have lived such a long, adventurous life!
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 5:30pm to 6:00pm at the Amos Family Funeral Home, visitation will be prior to services from 4 to 5:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Down Syndrome Innovations (https://kcdsi.org/donation-form/).
