James H. Snyder

James H. Snyder, 79, of Kansas City, Missouri, died in his home June 10, 2016.

Dr. Snyder was preceded in death by his parents, Paul F. and Alice (Peterson) Snyder and his beloved wife of 57 years, Ida M. Snyder. He is survived by 4 children, Jeri Lea Kisala of Boston, Jeanine Kay Williams and her husband Scot of Council Bluffs, Deanna Lynn Snyder of Lee’s Summit and James Randel (Randy) Snyder and his wife Sheila of Independence; 9 grandchildren, Nicholas, Rachel, Christy, Melissa, Scott, Anna, Rabin, Luke, and Arun; a great-granddaughter Leona; brother Frederick R. Snyder, sister Judith R. Johnson and many other family members.

A lifelong musician, he served in the Navy from 1956-1960, received BA and MA degrees in music from the University of Montana and DMA from the University of Missouri at Kansas City; was a high school or college band director and music teacher for many years; served several churches as organist, choir director or music minister; and has enriched the Kansas City area with his knowledge, love and talent for music, especially jazz, for 45 years. Member of Scottish Rite.
