James Carroll Yardley, 83, of Raymore, Missouri, died Saturday, October 8, 2011 at Raymore Rehabilitation Center in Raymore, Missouri.

After a tour of duty in the US Army, he attended Universal Television Trade School. He and his wife had their own business, Yardley's Maple Hill TV Service, and finally decided to be a locomotive engineer. He enjoyed running an Amtrak train across Kansas. He retired from the Santa Fe Railroad in 1985. He loved country, 50's era pop music, and jitterbugging. Jim had his own band and played in many jam sessions as a Winter Texan. He loved his little Shih-Tzu, Layla, as well as woodworking and making Les Paul style mandolins. He also made wood crafts for Barbara's Folk art hobby.

He is survived by his wife (Barbara) of 60 years of the home in Raymore, his son Douglas and his wife Alaina, Kansas City, Kansas; a daughter, Linnea McGuire and husband Rick, Mission, Kansas; four grandchildren, and two great-grandsons. He also leaves his sister, Laretha Tate, of Shawnee, Kansas and many extended family members.

At Jim's request, there will be no visitation or services. Cremation.
