Jan L. Ruder

Jan L. Ruder, 53, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2011, surrounded by family at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.

Jan was born April 14, 1958, in Salina, Kansas, to Nicholas and Betty Ruder. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and great aunt. Jan was always the life of the party. The family always said, "It wasn't a party until Jan fell down." Jan's sense of humor was never ending even during the last few days. She was very proud of her work, serving others, at the various restaurants where she had worked. She had many favorite customers, she often spoke of. Jan fought a seven year battle with breast cancer and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her mother and her sister-in-law, Nancy Ruder. She is survived by her father, Nick Ruder, Shawnee, Kansas; four sisters and spouses, Laura and Jeff Miller, Sue and Steve Sharpe, Dianne and Kevin Fonte, all of Overland Park, Kansas, and Amy and Larry Bowline, Shawnee, Kansas; brother, Nick Ruder, Shawnee, Kansas; nieces and nephews, Jeff & Lisa Miller, Beth Ruder, Johanna Ruder, Steven & Laurel Sharpe, Scott & Angie Sharpe, Sam Sharpe, Nicholas Fonte, Makenzie, Emily and Gracie Bowline; great nieces and nephews, Marin, Cori, Savannah, Syriana and Jalen. She was also survived by her significant other, Roland "Johnny" Strickland.

Memorial Rosary will be at 5:00 pm, Wednesday, October 19, 2011, followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. at the Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee.
