Jane Baker Heller, 56, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.
Jane was born October 18, 1957, in Westbury, New York, to Frank H. and Bettye Baker. She attended Adelphi University, Garden City, New York, earning a BA in Accounting. On September 18, 1983, Jane married Jeffrey Heller in Hicksville, New York. In 1985, Jane and Jeff moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they lived for the next 13 years and where their three children were born. They moved to Overland Park, Kansas, in 1998.
Jane was delighted with her family and gained strength from them. Her friends, from both Albuquerque and Overland Park, were all precious to her as well. She enjoyed photography, cooking and especially quilting. In recent years, Jane drew great joy from participating in numerous quilt art retreats given by Nancy Crow at her farm in Baltimore, Ohio.
Jane was preceded in death by her father, Frank H. Baker and two brothers, Michael H. Baker and Robert H. Baker. Survivors include her husband, Jeffrey M. Heller; son, Douglas J. Heller; two daughters, Melissa J. Heller and Jaclynn G. Heller; mother, Bettye D. Freitag, Seattle, Washington; and sister, Ann Elizabeth Baker, Doylestown, Pennsylvania.
Memorial service will be 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 22, 2013, at Amos Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the University of Kansas Cancer Center Care Pavilion, 2330 Shawnee Mission Parkway, Westwood, Kansas 66205 or Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall, Kansas City, Missouri 64145.
