Janet Kathleen Fenton

July 13, 1938 — January 22, 2015

On January 22, 2015 Jan died from complications to an unexpected illness she could not beat. She is preceded in death by her mother Emily, father George, and sister Muriel. She leaves her sister Gwen, granddaughters, Alexis, Oylvia and Bailey, Sons Julian, and Symon, Cousins Keith, Terry, and Derek, Nieces Sam, Hannah, Laura, Alison and Megan, Nephews Graham, Jake, Mathew, Adrian, Mark. Marley, Hank, and Bella her four legged children. We're sure we missed something, Mom wasn't good about writing things down. She and Sydney, her former husband, raised two boys.

She was born July 13, 1938 in Twickenham England to George and Emily Franklin, learned to dance at an early age and was the youngest of three sisters. She loved ice skating, theatre, dance, her grandchildren, Gwen, gardening, and being with friends.

She was british to the core, well because she was british to the core. She would hook you with her accent, charm you with her joy, love, and personality and then talk your ear off for the rest of your life. You were only a stranger once with Jan, and a dear friend from then on.

What we won't miss is her speeding through the streets of Overland Park in her British racing green (see the pattern here?) Mini Cooper S. A dream car she'd just recently been able to acquire. We know the city of Overland Park is now mourning the loss of revenue from all those tickets.

Please join us for tea and cake, in a celebration of her life, in the banquet room at Johnny Cascone's, 6863 W. 91st Overland Park, KS 66212 on Tuesday, January 27th from 2 - 3:30pm. We'll laugh, cry, cajole, and share what it was to be touched by her. She loved life every day and never stopped moving. We will continue this together by sharing what it was to be touched by Jan.

She loved ice skating and her family, we're not sure which was first, but even after a fall and broken wrist, she still got out and skated whenever she could. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund is being created at Central Bank of the Midwest that will help skaters with the cost of ice time for training. Donations can also be made in her name to the MidAmerica Rottweiler Rescue at http://www.adoptarott.org/donate
